Many prominent lots outstripped their estimates at a recent online jewelry sale at Christie’s in Geneva, with some selling for several times their high price.
The top item was an oval brilliant-cut, 15.03-carat, D-flawless, type IIa diamond ring, which fetched CHF 819,000 ($996,075) at Jewels Online: The Geneva Edit. That piece sold for within its presale estimates at the May 9 to 20 sale, according to the auction house’s website.
In total, the auction brought in CHF 7.3 million ($8.9 million). Christie’s also offered a range of jewels from well-known design houses, including Bulgari, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
