The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has pushed back the deadline for comments on potential changes to its environmental guidelines, the US consumer protection agency announced last week.

The public now has until April 23 to submit feedback on the “Green Guides,” compared with a previous cutoff date of February 21, the FTC said. “Several interested parties” had requested the amendment, it added.

The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC), which is coordinating the industry’s submissions via an online feedback form, has also extended its own deadline for submissions to March 10.

The guidelines, which haven’t changed since 2012, deal with advertising language such as “recycled” and “sustainability.”
