A Bulgari diamond ring was the top seller at a recent Doyle jewelry sale, beating its high estimate to bring in $1.2 million.
The ring, which features a cut-cornered emerald-cut, 15.76-carat, E-color, VS1-clarity stone set in platinum between two tapered baguette diamonds, more than doubled its $500,000 upper price tag at the Important Jewelry sale on December 12, Doyle said last week. Overall, the 243-lot auction in New York brought in $8.8 million, with many lots far surpassing presale estimates.
“This sale showed us that diamonds and color reign supreme,” said Ann Lange, executive director of the jewelry department at Doyle.
