Sotheby’s will present a selection of luxury jewelry items at its first-ever auction in Saudi Arabia, including a pair of diamond earrings expected to fetch up to $800,000.
The Graff-created set features a pear-shaped, 9.39-carat, D-color, VVS1-clarity diamond with the potential to be internally flawless, as well as a pear, 8.46-carat, D, internally flawless diamond, Sotheby’s said last week. The earrings will lead the jewelry category at the February 8 auction.
The auction, named Origins, will take place at Diriyah’s Bujairi Terrace, near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif. In addition to jewelry, the sale will include fine art, watches, sports memorabilia and handbags.
An Olympics-worn prototype wristwatch by Richard Mille, designed specifically for world champion sprinter Yohan Blake, will be one of the top lots, with a high estimate of $1.5 million.
