A number of diamond jewels Christie’s put on the auction block without reserve smashed their upper estimates and swiped the top three spots at a recent auction.
The top lot was a rivière necklace featuring 67 square emerald-cut diamonds ranging from 1 to 5.03 carats, for a total weight of 82.75 carats, in D to F color, and VVS1 to VS2 clarity, which brought in $516,600, according to Christie’s. The piece, which was offered without reserve, was estimated to fetch between $300,000 and $450,000 at the December 12 Jewels Online sale.
In total, Chistie’s offered 211 lots, with the sale total coming to $4.9 million. The auction house also presented a private collection called An Eye for Beauty.
