Sotheby’s Sets $6M Price Tag for Blue-Diamond Ring

A blue-diamond ring is one of several colored-diamond lots starring in the upcoming Sotheby’s Hong Kong sale, where it is set to bring in up to HKD 50 million ($6.4 million). 

The ring — featuring a cut-cornered rectangular-cut, 9.01-carat, fancy-blue, VVS2-clarity diamond — is the lead item on the block at the December 17 Important Jewels auction, according to Sotheby’s. The sale consists of 133 lots, many by well-known designers including Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Cartier. 

In addition to the diamonds, the auction will have colored-gemstone jewels and numerous jadeite pieces on offer.

Fancy vivid blue diamond ring at Sotheby's image
This ring features a radiant-cut, 1.40-carat, fancy-vivid-blue, VS2 diamond between two triangular diamonds. It has an upper estimate of HKD 12 million ($1.5 million).

This cushion-shaped, 6.14-carat, fancy-light-purplish-pink, internally flawless diamond on a ring between two other cushion-shaped diamonds has a top price of HKD 9.5 million ($1.2 million).

With its heart-shaped, 18.39-carat, fancy-vivid-yellow, VS2 diamond center stone and two pear-shaped diamond side stones, this ring carries a high estimate of HKD 8.5 million ($1.1 million).

Sotheby’s will offer this ring, bearing a step-cut, 8.72-carat Colombian emerald and diamonds, for as much as HKD 8 million ($1 million).

Featuring a brilliant-cut, 3.64-carat, fancy-pink, internally flawless diamond, this ring is set to go for up to HKD 6.5 million ($835,838).

Containing 59 oval and cushion-shaped Burmese rubies weighing approximately 59.02 carats in total, as well as pear-, marquise- and brilliant-cut diamonds, this necklace has a high estimate of HKD 4 million ($514,392).

This ring centering a step-cut, 4.07-carat Kashmir sapphire with baguette- and brilliant-cut diamond embellishments carries a presale high estimate of HKD 3.5 million ($450,093).
